This December, Amber is traveling to Egypt with her parents and her brother, on a humanitarian aid trip. They’ll be bringing gifts of food, medicine, and toys to Syrian refugees and poor families living in Cairo’s “Garbage City”. Trio Bembe’s Latin Christmas Concert in Support of Humanitarian Efforts in Egypt is on Nov 27, 2015.
Trio Bembe heads West once again for a short fall tour. Here’s where you can catch us: (more…)
Trio Bembe is releasing a new Christmas album this Dec 1 at the Park Theatre. You can get all the details here. We’re spreading the Christmas cheer by adding our infectious Latin beats to familiar Christmas carols, like Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, O Holy Night, etc. We hope you can join us!
We are proud to announce that we won an award! Trio Bembe received a 2014 Global Music Award for World Beats for the album “Oh my soul.”
Coleman – coolest venue! It’s an old church converted into a venue. And last tour, we had an AMAZING meal there, so we made SURE that this was our first stop this time around.
Edmonton – our good friend (who’s also hilarious), Marco Claveria, will be joining us for a show at Jeffrey’s Cafe. Marco plays Cuban tres, and makes Amber laugh while she’s singing – hope she can keep it together this time!
Blackfalds – this is a new venue for us, but our hosts are awesome, so we’re pretty sure it’ll be a fun time. Last time, our hosts INSISTED on making us breakfast, even though we didn’t want any.
High River – another new venue for us. The delightful Karla Adolphe has invited us to be part of her concert series, and a jazz band will open for us. Cool!
Medicine Hat – we are returning to an artsy little corner called Inspire Restaurant. Run by two sisters (one artist, one chef), the space looks really cool, and the people are so friendly.
Regina – we’re playing at a dance studio – who doesn’t enjoy that?!

We’re very excited to be heading west on our second tour. (more…)
If you’re in Winnipeg, you might have read about Rodrigo Muñoz in the Jan/Feb issue of dig! Magazine. Here’s the full, unedited version from Winnipeg’s favorite Latin musician. (You can see him play this Friday, Jan 25, at the Park Theatre with Trio Bembe & Rambling Dan Frechette for Jazz Winnipeg’s Nu Sounds Concert “Latin Blues”.) (more…)
Our good friend Curtis Nowosad recently released his debut album, The Skeptic and the Cynic, and we want to tell you all about it! The CD features an all-star lineup of professors from the luminous University of Manitoba Jazz Program, including Steve Kirby, Larry Roy, Jimmy Greene, Derrick Gardner, and Will Bonness. Grammy-nominee Taylor Eigsti makes a special appearance as well.
When Curtis plays, the music pops. His version of Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” makes you feel like you can take on the world. Curtis digs into his musical past, pulling out unique arrangements of songs by Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell, and more. Curtis has an inventive way of combing his love of jazz with these very accessible songs, making it easy for a first-time jazz listener, or a long-time music-lover to enjoy every track.
